Christmas Health Tips

So the Christmas calorie consuming season is once again upon us. From family gatherings to cosy pub meals to crazy work parties there are countless good times around, but with these do bring those unwanted post-festive January blues. It's worth noting that January is the health and fitness industry's busiest time of the year, I think we know why! This article therefore is looking at tips to reduce the calorie burden on the body without missing out on any of the fun.

1.       Eat a healthy breakfast - The best way to start a day making you feel satisfied whilst reducing the chances of excessive Christmas snacking.

2.       Consume the calories selectively - Indulge in your favourite niceties to satisfy your cravings but don't accept every treat passed your way. Save it for the ones you truly love.

3.       Stock healthy snacks - Be prepared for when the cravings come along by having some options readily available such as dried fruit, nuts, crackers and low calorie drinks.

4.       Get outside and walk - A cool but crisp winter is a lovely time of the year to get out with friends and family and have a social gathering whilst burning off some of those festive calories.

5.       Keep water at hand - As well as food christmas is also widely accepted as a rich, high calorie beverage time of the year, with such naughties as hot chocolate, eggnog and of course alcohol. Balancing these favourites with plenty of water will be a great aid in maintaining good health.

Now I don't want to be nicknamed scrooge so enjoy a healthy and happy festive period and remember as with many things in life, consume moderately! Happy Christmas one and all.
