Article Number Four
Motivation
If you follow the sections on the news these days discussing health and fitness, it makes for pretty depressing hearing. A sedentary lifestyle is the new craze about town! With constant marketing campaigns aimed at television, video games, alcohol, cigarettes, fast food chains etc what chance do we have?! Well actually we do have a chance and a good one at that, with this in mind today's article is looking at MOTIVATION...
With all the long term health benefits of exercise you first have to ask yourself, 'why aren't you doing anything about it'? Is it down to... laziness?, the expense of a gym membership or a personal trainer?, are you simply not used to being active?, do you see it as unimportant with all the other stresses of life? or is it simply too much like hard work?
Motivation isn't just something that falls into your lap, you have to create it for yourself and you have to make the first step. To start with however, there are some very easy ways. One phone call to a personal trainer like me and I'll be round to your house discussing with you your aims, your fears, your time constraints and we'll discuss how to change those negative thoughts into positive ones and drive forwards. All sessions are carried out in your own surroundings so there are no intimidating factors which some find associated with gyms.
Of course there are other ways too, the great outdoors is the perfect setting for anyone. It's free, spacious and doesn't get used nearly enough so there's lots to go around. Walking, jogging and the like could be a great start, especially with the summer here at last. There are numerous sporting clubs and societies as well as plenty of gyms and health clubs to cater for anyone's needs. I would be more than happy to give anyone advice where they may need it, drop me an email with any questions you may have.
There's no question that life is different than it used to be, but that doesn't mean we can't take control of our own health destiny. There's something out there for all of us, we just have to take the time and effort to look.
Good luck and above all, enjoy!
